Rajesh Ahuja is the CEO of ANZ Myanmar, responsible for growing the bank’s franchise in this newly emerging economy. With 21 years’ experience in Institutional banking across emerging economies, he has worked across diverse markets in India, Hong Kong and Myanmar.
Rajesh joined ANZ in March 2010, became the bank’s Chief Representative in Myanmar in February 2013 and was instrumental in securing a Banking Licence for ANZ Group in October 2014. He led a large team of ANZ staff in building the branch, establishing physical infrastructure on the ground, as well as local bank partnerships aligned with ANZ Group standards and policies.
Prior to joining ANZ, Rajesh held various positions in ABN AMRO, Royal Bank of Scotland and SBI Capital Markets in Hong Kong and India.
Throughout his career and especially in Myanmar, Rajesh has established strong relationships with customers, regulators, government authorities, leading companies, industry bodies and community groups. He has rich experience in financing natural resources projects, as well as utilities, infrastructure and TMT sector, which are areas of strategic importance to Myanmar.
ANZ’s presence in Myanmar means the bank is best positioned to connect customers across its super regional network and in particular within the Greater Mekong region, with additional offices in Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
Rajesh is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce qualification from India.
